Fundraising
O.S.C.A.R. needs about US-Dollar 950.000 per year.
From 1984 to 1997 O.S.C.A.R. was mainly funded by the swiss relief organisation COTESU. In 2008, the money came from USAID, the European Union, the spanish Ayuda en Acción, MISEREOR, the diocese Trier, the Missionszentrale Franziskaner Bonn, the cardinal Leger from Canada, Adveniat, Bruder in Not der Diözese Innsbruck, the austrian Franciscans, and private donors.
The machines for road construction are the most costly expense. In the first couple of years, the governmental machines were lent. This let to difficulties, and since 1982, O.S.C.A.R. used its own machines. In 1983, austrian carol singers collected US-Dollar 220.000 for a caterpillar D-7.
The financial position of O.S.C.A.R. is very tense. It happened for the first time in 2008 that not all costs incurred could be covered. The financial status for 2009 is very serious, putting the future of the region at risk. The project is dependent on donations!
